Started in 1916 for the "younger brothers" of the Scout section, Cub Scouts are the second section of the association, aged between 8 and 10 1/2 years old. The group is collectively known as a "pack" and each pack is split into Sixes, each with their own colour. Each Six is lead by a Sixer and Seconder. The recommended maximum size of each pack is 36 Cub Scouts.
Cub Scouts under take a variety of indoor and outdoor activities from camping to trips to local attractions. There is also the opportunity to undertake a variety of badges which can then be worn on their uniform. Cub Scouting provides opportunities for personal development and learning about responsibility as well as working with others in groups in a fun and enjoyable way.
The Cub Scout uniform is a dark green sweatshirt and group scarf, often known as a "neckie" along with the coloured "woggle" of their six.
