Explorer Scouting is fourth section within Scouting and is for young people aged 14yrs to 18yrs. Explorer Scouts are arranged in "Units" are are "District based" meaning that they are typically not attached to any particular Scout Group.
We currently have 2 Explorer Scouts Units within Calder District. Each unit does not always meet on a weekly basis typically because Explorer Scouts tend to be more active that the other sections at weekends (camping, expeditions) and also due to other events such as holidays or exams.
The Explorer Scout uniform consists of a beige shirt or blouse with navy blue activity trousers or skirt and a unit scarf (also known as a neckie). Some Scottish Explorer units also wear kilts on formal occasions. If awarded Explorers can also wear the "Explorer belt and buckle" rather than the traditional Scout belt.
