Formed in 1908 (after an experimental camp in 1907) Scouts are the third section in the moment and are usually aged between 10 1/2 and 14 years old. The Scout "troop" is split into smaller "patrols" typically made up of up to six members with a older Scout acting as the Patrol Leader "PL" and usually helped by an Assistant Patrol Leader "APL".
There are currently around half a million Scouts in the UK, with around 28 million members of the organisation world wide. Scouts take part in a variety of challenges, indoor/ outdoor activities, camps and projects and enable like-minded young people to learn about working together as a team while developing a wide range of personal skills such as leadership and communication.
The Scout uniform consists of teal green shirt or blouse, navy blue activity trousers or skirt and a group scarf (also known as a neckie) with a "woggle" and a scout belt. Some groups in Scotland wear kilts as part of their formal dress.
